Large scale puppet made with Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Dove Tales group, a weekly expressive arts session for female asylum seekers living in Plymouth, led by facilitator Laura Heatherington. Participants brought fabric segments from their own varied cultures to create, attach and sew the puppet costume, made origami birds to decorate the puppet and devoted many hours to furious braiding for the puppet’s multi-coloured hair. The puppet formed a centrepiece for the Dove Tales project’s closing performance at Plymouth Theatre Royal’s TR2 in July, 2013.
